On June 22nd 2015 afternoon, during the LASER World of PHOTo nICS 2015, a professio nal meeting was held by Lithuania Laser Association, which attracted more than 50 participants. The event was supported by the Lithuania Embassy and Enterprise Lithuania. Laser Manufacture News also witnessed the meeting.
Mr. Mantas Zamzickas, Senior Project Manager of Enterprise Lithuania, hosted the conference. Lithuanian Ambassador Deividas Matulio nis made a welcome speech. Professor Wolfgang Sandner, Director General and CEO of ELI-DC Internatio nal Co nsortium made a presentation a bout the ELI (Extreme Light Infrastructure) project. The ELI project involves Vacuum Structure, Ion sources, Neutron sources, Terahertz, Ultrafast laser, Attophysics, Nuclear&photo nuclear etc. Now ELI has built facility in Czech, Romania and Hungary, and the fourth one is not co nfirmed yet.

It is an ho nor to invite Professor Algis Piskarskas, President of Lithuanian Laser Association, to make a presentation a bout “Lithuania Laser Industry and Development”. Professor Piskarskas is one of the early experts to join the laser research works, and he makes very im portant co ntribution to Lithuania laser. He is also called “The Father of Laser” in Lithuania. “Almost 50 years ago, Lithuania laser started from zero. The studies & research of laser physics and quantum electro nics in Vilnius University began in 1970, the pilot facility of lasers and related technique was established in 1983 and now we have 24 laser companies, including EKSPLA, EKSMA, Light Conversion, Standa, Altechna, Brolis etc. I’m very proud to say that the laser source for science from Lithuania occupies almost 10% in the world, and we double the sales nearly every five years”, said Prof. Piskarskas.

Mr. Kęstutis Jasiūnas, Director General of EKSPLA, introduced the development and products of EKSPLA, and he also mentio ned that the company had joined two projects of ELI.
