The 2019 World Laser Manufacturing Conference brings together nearly 20 experts and scholars in the optical and laser industry and industry leaders from the United States, Russia, Switzerland, Lithuania, Belgium, Australia, Japan, Singapore and other countries. The scholars and industry representatives who participated in the speech deeply analyzed the current status of the global laser industry and explored the strategy and prospects of enterprises and industries.

“Do people have the possibility to transcend nature? I think there is.” Professor Zhong Minlin, president of the American Laser Society, introduced the innovative application of ultrafast lasers in nanostructure preparation at the 2019 World Laser Manufacturing Conference held on May 8.

Professor Zhong said that the ultra-fast laser manufacturing micro-nano structure can change the material properties, manufacture anti-fog glass and hydrophobic materials, and improve the efficiency of water hydrogen production. “By learning the microstructure of natural organisms, laser technology is used to design nanostructures to achieve the goal of transcending nature.”

The rapid development of ultrafast laser research has benefited from the CPA technology that won the 2018 Nobel Prize in Physics, a technology that can amplify laser intensity. With the application of this technology, the intensity of the use of lasers has been revolutionized, leading to the development of precision machining and ultra-fast dynamics of special materials.

Renaz, senior vice president of Hanover Milano Exhibitions, said that by 2022, the global laser technology market is expected to reach $15.38 billion, which is a huge market opportunity.

In the past few years, the Chinese laser industry has developed rapidly. According to the statistics of the Laser Processing Professional Committee of the China Optical Society, the output value of China's domestic laser processing industry exceeded 50 billion yuan in 2018 (the previous year's data was 43 billion yuan), a year-on-year increase of 16%. The rapid development of the laser industry has benefited from the madness of Chinese manufacturing over the past decade. The continuous improvement of domestic equipment has also enabled many laser equipment to achieve domestic replacement, resulting in better localization configuration and service to reduce the cost of laser equipment. Some industrial manufacturing fields have begun to scale applications.

"Compared with the core technology equipment of chips and aerospace engines, the technology gap between China's laser industry and foreign countries is not large." Chinese Academy of Sciences academician Yao Jianquan said in an interview.

Zhu Xiao, president of China Optics Valley Laser Industry Association, believes that laser processing will expand from special processing to general processing. For this reason, lasers need to be deeply integrated with various industries, and laser processing has reached an era of widespread application.

At the fair, there are 200 well-known laser brands exhibiting various laser cutting/welding solutions, including advanced laser technology, laser precision machining, 3D printing, laser processing products, optical materials and components. Yao Jianquan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hou Ruohong, president of the Guangdong Laser Industry Association, and Renaz, senior vice president of Hannover Messe, gave speeches at the opening ceremony. More than 300 people including leaders of domestic manufacturing industry associations, foreign laser association experts and business representatives attended the opening ceremony of the Expo.
